The Graduate School of Dentistry offers 10 courses in basic dentistry and 12 courses in clinical dentistry. In line with the philosophy of the school’s founder, Professor Kazuo Sato, that “dentistry is a branch of medicine,” we aim to contribute to the development of medicine as a whole, not just limited to the field of dentistry. In addition to their major subjects, our graduate students also learn other skills that are essential for internationally successful research, such as statistics and the writing of research papers in English. We also stimulate our students to be internationally minded by attending lectures by foreign guest professors etc. While the emphasis of research naturally is within the selected field of specialization, we actively encourage our students to apply for Ministry of Education grants for personal research and collaborations with researchers from other fields, and provide ample opportunities for study ab-road and grants for participation in international conferences, in order to educate young researchers who will become leaders in their fields in the future.
