TERM: Starting as early as possible, the term is until the end of March 2014 (After our decision, it may take one to two months before starting to process procedures in the University; also see A CAUTION below).

CANDIDATES: A strong background in at least one of the areas among supramolecular chemistry, coordination chemistry, synthetic chemistry, and photochemistry, is highly desirable.

THE PROJECT: This fellowship is supported by the Nihon University Strategic Projects for Academic Research (aka N. (en dot) Research Project) "Nihon University, Nanotechnology Excellence - Nanomaterial-based Photonic and Quantum Technologies". This is the project (5 years, 600,000,000 yen) of Nihon University, which will conduct interdisciplinary researches under collaboration of institutes for science, technology, and medical areas within and outside the University.

As a participant in this project, the Otsuki group will work on light energy harvesting from the viewpoints of artificial photosynthesis (water cleavage) and dye-sensitized solar cells (new dyes in collaboration with NIMS, Tsukuba)

SALARY: 350,000 Japanese yen per month + flight (from oversees). The work conditions are in accord with the bylaws of the Nihon University.

The application deadline is 31 January 2012. However, a distinguished candidate might be selected earlier.

A successful candidate may be asked to apply to the JSPS for the fellowship as well in line with our effort to obtain funds from sources outside the University. The result of the JSPS application, however, will not affect the decision we have made concerning your employment.

A CAUTION: The Project is approved on the basis of annual evaluation of the progress by the University. Availability of the post-doctoral position is verified provided that the renewal of the Project is approved every year. We expect that the decision concerning the renewal for the academic year 2012 starting from April will be made at the end of February, 2012.
