Consisting of 18 departments in the realms of the humanities, social sciences and natural sciences, the College of Humanities and Sciences covers a very wide range of subjects and offers an education system that can fulfill the requirements of many kinds of students. This flavor is most apparent in the general subjects. Japan’s society is currently under pressure to conform to international standards both economically and culturally, and consequently our general subjects have come to include subjects like international economics and regional studies. Flights out of the classroom to perform practical studies abroad are not uncommon. In the workplace, computer skills and computer literacy are now a must, and such classes are offered to all students, both in the humanities and in the natural sciences. To find a good job today it is also necessary to have an edge over other competitors, and for this purpose we offer a series of specialist courses. These include a social welfare course for future welfare workers, an actuary course for prospective insurance and pension actuaries, a counseling course for potential counselors, and various other courses to obtain special licenses and certifications.
