College of International Relations
Department
- International Studies
- International Liberal Arts
The College of International Relations strives to educate specialists to meet the needs of an increasingly multi-faceted, specialized and complex international society. The College consists of 2 departments – the Department of International Studies, the Department of International Liberal Arts,– with each department providing varied and specialized education to meet the needs of our times. In particular, since it is now absolutely essential to develop the ability to communicate freely in foreign languages, we have active student exchange programs with several other schools and universities in Asia, Europe and the U.S., and we encourage our students to go abroad for a shorter or medium period of time. We also invite English teachers from these affiliated schools to our Mishima Campus. In addition, we have an Internship system, where our students go to the U.S. to teach American children about traditional Japanese culture and the Japanese language. Students who have participated in these programs have benefited greatly by improving their abilities to teach and communicate in English.
For those of our students who want to pursue a career in the Foreign Office, we offer special preparatory lessons for the Foreign Office entrance examination, and the College Library has a special International Organization Resource Room with the latest documents directly from the United Nations and European Unions Headquarters, providing materials and an environment to stimulate our students’ international awareness.
