The College of Art, which was established more than 80 years ago, is a comprehensive art school with 8 departments: Photography, Cinema, Fine Arts, Music, Literary Arts, Drama, Broadcasting, and Design. However, none of the departments remain confined within their specialist fields, but are linked to the other arts, seeking interdisciplinary and comprehensive approaches to artistic expression and art studies. This feature distinguishes our College from more narrowly focused conservatories and art academies.
In addition to the strong full-time faculty in each department, we also invite active front-line artists and researchers as part-time instructors to stimulate our students’ intellectual curiosity and their will to artistic expression. Another important feature of our education in the arts is our emphasis on small groups for practical training, seminars, etc.
We warmly welcome foreign students, and in the Department of Design a certain quota has been reserved for foreign students. Many of our foreign students proceed to graduate school to obtain a master’s or doctoral degree, before returning to an active life in the arts in their home countries.
