Renowned for its sports achievements , Nihon University established the College of Sports Science in April 2016. As the 16th college of Nihon University, its campus is based at Sangenjaya in Setagaya-ku, Tokyo. The college offers a bachelor degree in physical education where students will study one of the competitive sports subjects. There are two courses of study, the athlete course and the sports support course.
The goal is to develop reflective practitioners who, through hands-on practice, are able to discover and analyze issues and challenges faced during practice, derive the means to solve them, and feed their findings and solutions back into further practice. With coaching studies forming the core of the curriculum, students will learn about competitive sports through a broad perspective, from natural science, medical science, social science to formal science.
Specialized lectures will be taught by teaching staff with wide knowledge of competitive sports. Among the teaching staff are people with practical experience as athletes or coaches in various international competitions such as the Olympics and researchers who have demonstrated and applied their research results relating to research on competitive sports.
